The longtime Today Show presenter took to Facebook on Saturday, April 29, to heap praise on Columbia County eatery Shadow 66, located in Ghent at 47 Old Post Road.
It welcomed its first diners on Thursday, March 23.
“Congratulations to @astrid_sunshine and her hubby, Patrick on opening the best new restaurant in @columbiacountyny @shadow66restaurant,” the 68-year-old Roker said.
“The decor, the food, the service: #manifique.”
Accompanying the post are several photos, including one of Roker and his wife, ABC News journalist Deborah Roberts, enjoying some refreshments at the French-themed restaurant.
Other photos show Roberts posing with co-owner Astrid, and provide a glimpse at the restaurant’s vintage decor.
A look at the menu shows a soup of the day, salads, and several appetizers, like the salmon tartare, made with hand cut raw salmon, shallots, fresh ginger, cilantro, and soy sauce vinaigrette.
For their main course, diners can choose from an array of dishes, including the black sea bass with potato scales, zucchini gratin, and basil sauce.
There’s also the braised beef in red wine, with fingerling potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini.
Dessert offerings include creme brulee au citron, with vanilla custard and citrus sauce, and the gateau fondant aux chocolat, made with molten chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, and berry coulis.
The restaurant has also received high praise from the Instagram foodie account @columbiacountyofnyeats, which cited its “wonderful dining experience from drinks to dessert and it was all served with stellar service.”
Shadow 66 is open by reservation only. Find out more on its website.
